# Get started with Dedica

> Connect your domain to Dedica, review what it found on your site, install the middleware and start serving AI agents, step by step from the dashboard.

Dedica's onboarding takes you from a domain to a site that serves AI agents. You do it in the dashboard at [app.getdedica.com](https://app.getdedica.com) under **Onboarding**, and each step shows whether it is done, in progress or waiting for you.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need the **owner** or **admin** role to drive onboarding. Members can review findings, and viewers can only look. See [Roles](https://docs.getdedica.com/reference/roles.md).

**1. Create your account**

Go to [app.getdedica.com/sign-up](https://app.getdedica.com/sign-up) and continue with Google or a code sent to your work email, then name your company. Dedica creates an organization for it with you as its **owner** and takes you to onboarding.

If your company already uses Dedica, ask its owner to invite you from **Team** in the account menu. A person can belong to only one organization.

**2. Enter and confirm your domain**

Enter your domain. Dedica fetches your homepage and `robots.txt` the way its crawler will, then shows you the site it found (title and URL) and asks you to confirm.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Your domain is permanent. It can't be changed after you confirm it, so check that the site Dedica found is the right one.

If the check fails, it tells you why:

| Reason | What it means |
| - | - |
| Not found | The domain doesn't resolve. Check the spelling. |
| Unreachable | It doesn't answer on HTTPS at the apex domain. Redirecting to `www` is fine. |
| Timeout | Your site took too long to answer. |
| Redirects elsewhere | Your homepage redirects to another site. |
| Blocked | Your site answered 401, 403, 407 or 429, or showed a bot check page (such as Cloudflare's "Just a moment...") instead of your homepage: a firewall or bot protection is blocking the crawler. Allow the user agent `DedicaBot/0.1 (+https://getdedica.com/bot)`. |
| Server error | Your site answered with a 5xx error. |
| Robots disallowed | Your `robots.txt` doesn't allow Dedica's crawler on `/`. |

**3. See your report**

Dedica scans your site and you can watch its progress. You then get your agent-readiness report: your score, how you do on each of the five pillars (Find, Understand, Connect, Operate, Transact), every check with its evidence, and a fix plan ranked by what to fix first.

Each fix has a prompt to paste into your coding agent, and you can download them all as a kit. To have Dedica do the work, choose **Fix with Dedica**. If the scan fails, the page says why and you can try again or continue without the report.

**4. Wait for the analysis**

Dedica crawls your site in the background and reads it to work out your company profile, what visitors can do, which actions agents could call and which pages agents need. If the analysis stops, the dashboard says why and lets you retry it. Finished work is reused.

**5. Install the middleware**

While the analysis runs, install the middleware in front of your site. On Cloudflare, use the **Deploy to Cloudflare** button. See [Install the Cloudflare Worker](https://docs.getdedica.com/middleware/cloudflare-worker.md). The dashboard checks the connection every 15 seconds and marks each install step: the token, whether the worker is running, and whether your site's traffic goes through it. If something fails, it tells you what to fix.

You can choose **Install later** and review findings first, but onboarding only finishes once the middleware is connected.

**6. Review the findings**

Confirm, in order: your company profile, what visitors can do, agent tools and pages for agents. See [Review findings](https://docs.getdedica.com/guides/review-findings.md).

**7. Connect the middleware**

If you chose **Install later**, finish the install now. Once the middleware is connected, onboarding is done and the dashboard opens on the overview.

## After onboarding

The overview shows your serving status, your progress towards going live (site analysed, middleware connected, serving on, verified live), how many drafts wait for review and everything Dedica serves on your domain. Open any path to see exactly what an agent gets there.

New suggestions wait on the **Review** page. The number next to **Review** in the menu shows how many are waiting.

Agents only get content once serving is on. On the overview, choose **Turn on serving**. Dedica then checks that agents really get your pages: it fetches `/llms.txt` and one of your agent pages from your domain the way an agent would and compares them with what it serves. Once they match, the overview says **You're live** and gives you prompts to try your site in an AI assistant. See [Serving modes](https://docs.getdedica.com/guides/serving-modes.md).

To edit, turn off or remove anything after you approved it, use the **Agent View** page. See [Review findings](https://docs.getdedica.com/guides/review-findings.md#after-you-approve).

The dashboard follows your system's light or dark setting. To switch, use **Dark mode** or **Light mode** at the bottom of any page.
